Friday's Wichita Eagle didn't mention one word about the fact that the FINAL EDITION of the Rocky Mountain News is TODAY - just 55 days shy of it's 150th anniversary.

Instead, the Eagle tried to communicate some "news" about the local real estate market, but got it COMPLETELY WRONG. Their message was 180 degrees from the message in the USA Todays February 24th article -- full of doom and gloom about our local market, the writer relied heavily on statistical data.

Incomplete comparisons, even with the use of ACCURATE DATA, often leads to INACCURATE CONCLUSIONS. There were 37% MORE homes under contract at the end of January than at the end of December (490 vs.358) !

Real Estate sales are strong and getting stronger! Gotta go -- Kim

Check out USA Today - on page 6B of 02/24/2009, the lead story is about the Real Estate Market in Wichita. The article points out something that many people are unaware of - our market - and our prices are STABLE, and even growing.

The only thing that has affected sales in the Wichita market seems to be the constriction in mortgage money. Now you really need to be able to afford to buy a house before the lenders will lend you money. The end to "zero-down" loans means you now must have 3-5% to pay down.

In spite of the tightening of the money supply, I still have more buyers than are able to find homes. My advice - jump in now, before interest rates head back up.
